To rule by the gun is to rule by fear. To rule by the gun is to believe that the gun is more powerful than love. Despite all efforts of those with guns to stop people from loving, some people continue to love in the face of certain death. Conversely all of the love in the world has not currently stop the use of guns. Are they then equal since they both are allowed to exist? Do they serve different purposes and should be considered discontinuous or not related? Perhaps there are situations for love and situations for guns and we leave it at that. Of course then there is the problem of when to love and when to shoot and is shooting in that situation love and how does the shooting relate to rule by fear? It is evident that separating fear and love, or should I say violence and love is not as easy as others would make it sound. In the end they are tools in a tool chest that empower purpose. The fundamental question remains of who to serve because only one, God or not God, can be served as our rule reflects our service.
